Standard Material Available
· Polyester base TDI: This is our standard base of urethane.
It has high resistance to cutting, tearing, chunking and oils.
This material is best for most urethane applications.
· Polyether base TDI: This material is used for high
speed and load bearing applications. It also resists attack
by water.
· Polyester and polyether base MDI: This material is
used for higher temperature applications. It is also good for
food grade applications.
· Sure-Grip TM: All of our polyester base TDI rolls are
cast from the Sure-Grip TM formula. This formula adds more friction
to the roll surface without sacrificing other physical properties.
Standard Finishes Available
· Ground finish: This is the most common finish given
for a urethane roll cover. This finish is achieved in our grinding
operation using a smooth grit grinding stone. Grind finishes
can be polished (#1 ground finish), smooth or standard (#2 ground
finish) and rough ground (#3 ground finish).
· Directional crepe finish: This is a finish developed
by universal Urethane primarily for bridle roll applications
or where having a non-slip surface is important. The finish
resembles crepe paper bumps and the skin of an orange. Crepe
finishes are applied directionally, meaning your roll grips
significantly better running with the crepe than against it.
When crepe finish is specified, the direction of the roll must
also be specified. Crepe finishes can be smooth - like an orange
peel (#1 crepe finish), medium (#2 crepe finish) or very rough
(#3 crepe finish).
· Non-directional crepe finish: This finish is the same
as the crepe finish, except there is no direction applied to
the crepe. This finish is needed if a roll can be used in any
direction or when it is not feasible to run the roll in one
direction. Non-directional crepe finishes can be smooth (#1
non-directional crepe finish) medium (#2 non-directional crepe
finish), or very rough (#3 non-directional crepe finish).
· Saw-cut finish: This finish is used in such applications
as belt pulleys and conveyor rolls. It is rougher than ground
finish, smoother than crepe finish and has a woven grain look.
Saw-cut finishes can be smooth (#1 saw-cut finish), regular
(#2 saw-cut finish), and rough (#3 saw-cut finish). Many other
specialized materials and finishes have been developed by Universal
Urethane Products, Inc. Please call us to discuss your specific
needs and requirements.
